17 Days Laboratory in Nature
This year's laboratory will take place 5.–21.8. in Gallery Torhaus, Stadt Wehlen, the area of Saxon Switzerland National Park in Germany, with the following presentations in Sluggg Gallery, Leipzig and Kafkárna, Prague.
The theme for this year is "𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓 𝒐𝒇 𝑺𝒐𝒏𝒊𝒄 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒇𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏."
Sound as the message of the profound potential for connection, meditation, and reflection that lies within the simple act of collective listening.
Sound as the body itself—vibrating, resonating, and carrying the memory traces of its surroundings. The voice, as an extension of the body, possesses an interconnected quality with the material world. It is not confined to a singular, individual expression but emerges as a collective and interwoven spectral experience. The ability to listen. The choice to listen.
With this year's edition we confess the strong presence of sound focused–related projects, researches from previous years of laboratories. We will be exploring the sound relations in dialogue with other mediums, existence, presence, through different sensory paths, perceptions, practices.
How does the sound shape us? And how is the sound present? That sounds…in us, and out.
How does technology which uses electricity coexist with nature and how do they nourish, inspire each other. How to approach technology in a sustainable way where the mycelium of structure is decentralized, does not own and does not exploit. Where the relations in between are in a way of exchange and communication.
We would like to establish dialogues between nature and electric entities, or at least become aware of them and open a space for possibilities, change, and embodiment.
For this year's edition, we are inviting enthusiasts to take part in exploration of possibilities of ways of communication, beyond-sound based entities and spaces. Everyone with whom such streams resonate, and who is interested.

As a private initiative, the financing of this artist residency programme is dependent on the support of public institutions. For this reason, we have submitted applications for financial support, the results we expect in June 2024. With a positive funding decision, we intend to offer the following conditions:
– A travel cost share (limited to bus or train)
– A possible mini grant (depending on the grant results)
– Vegan/Vegetarian food
– Shared sleeping spaces, with shower, kitchen, and working studios, basic construction tools
– Video & photo documentation of our and your works
– Presentation equipment: Quadraphonic sound system, Projector x2, TV screen x2, Bluetooth speakers

𝑶𝑼𝑻𝑺𝑰𝑫𝑬𝑰𝑵𝑰𝑵𝑺𝑰𝑫𝑬𝑶𝑼𝑻𝑰𝑵𝑺𝑰𝑫𝑬𝑶𝑼𝑻𝑶𝑼𝑻𝑺𝑰𝑫𝑬𝑰𝑵 is a self-organized cluster of artists and researchers focused on creating and curating a series of thematic performances, site-specific audio and visual installations set in natural environments, establishing dialogues and relationships between humans and nature and developing visions of speculative scenarios. We explore the "unknown" and the "unconscious" through external and internal routes. We focus on process-oriented collective experiments in research and art. Through this process, participants are also invited to explore the multiple natures of themselves, deconstructing and connecting different aspects of their identity and perception of the world. This blending of the inner and the outer, the human and the non-human, opens up the possibility of new and diverse ways of being and becoming. It is a call to embrace the complexity and multiplicity of the world and to create new pathways to a more sustainable and connected future.
Upcoming presence is based on a 17-days ‘laboratory’ at Gallery Torhaus, Stadt Wehlen, situated walking-distance to the national park Saxon Switzerland in Germany. With its unique natural surroundings, the laboratory encourages its participants to experiment with site-specific creations and researches that incorporates with natural landscape and material.
The program is devised with the focus on the creation of an individual and collective exploration of our inner and outer natural environments. We sense nature as an independent creature, a structure of knowledge, and a unique space of self-reflection and (re-)connection.
In the current age beings and nature are surrounded by the entity of electric technology, devices, wires, cables, artificial intelligence, robots, we all are affected by, engaged in. The electromagnetic fields have changed by the presence of devices, causing the (pollution) over–intense presence of low frequency activity. We are still adapting to it. How does nature adapt, and how does nature and organisms, cells and bacterias co-exist with the electrical entity? What (new) is emerging from this dialogue, interaction, connection? What strategies of belonging, nurturing each other does come up? How is the presence of digital shaping our dreams? With an overload of spectral pollution (in material, informational and aural range) we see, nature is making its way to adapt, and transform internally.
