Our "Christmas tree".
It's the "House" tomato variety, originally from Georgia (the country, not the state) by way of Saskatchewan. Grows to less than 1 foot, so you can bring it in for the winter and grow it as a perennial.

The pot was outside until it got too cold, but it was full of green tomatoes which are now ripening. This is the first time I've tried this variety, so I don't know whether the plants will produce any more fruit over winter. But at least they will have a good head-start in the spring.

Here's an interesting fact about tomato plants. Apparently, at least some tomato varieties, will produce more tomatoes when surrounded by the color red. Someone actually did experiments on color and tomato plants. The theory is that if the plants detect red around them, they perceive them as competition, so they produce more tomatoes in the hopes that
their
seeds will create new plants. I am not sure if this works for all tomato varieties, but it is confirmed to work on ones that get sent to your grocery store.

...thus proving that grocery store tomatoes were genetically engineered with DNA from non-colorblind animals.
