It just feels strange - Black summer is still pretty fresh in everybody's minds here. But they did call out our area as being at risk.

Just hope it doesn't get here before morning.

I feel very far away from all that as it has been so wet here in Cali for months. But soon... we will be smelling the pungent smoke in the air that signifies late-summer.

A lot of wildlife on the move. A friend on the river (a few minutes away) had some embers land on his property overnight - so I'll be starting up the super soakers as soon as I choke down some more coffee.

It's just getting light so I'll need to get out and take a look, but I think the firies managed to put a lid on it last night; before it hit the treacherous terrain in the Wollondillly Valley - where it would have been unstoppable.
